Barbara and Gary Blevins inducted into the Duncanville Athletic Hall of Honor
January 17, 2025 - Duncanville High School in Duncanville, TX, held a special ceremony to induct six individuals into the Duncanville Athletic Hall of Honor. Among the honorees were Barbara and Gary Blevins, who were posthumously recognized for their unwavering support of the Pantherette Basketball Team. Barbara and Gary were known for attending every game - both home and away—cheering on the team throughout the years.
In honor of their legacy, the family established the Gary and Barbara Blevins Scholarship Fund, which annually awards a scholarship to a Pantherette player who best exemplifies Gary’s coaching philosophy: “Don’t ever let anyone out-hustle you.”
The Induction Award was presented by
Jessica Guinn, the eldest granddaughter
of Barbara and Gary. The award was
accepted by Bobbie Long, the Blevins’
daughter, and granddaughters Jamie
Wickline and Tiffany Anderson—all
former Pantherettes. Jessica and Jamie were also part of State Championship teams during their time at Duncanville High School, further cementing the Blevins family’s legacy at the school. Twenty-nine family members were in attendance to celebrate this special occasion.
The Blevins family extends their sincere thanks to Mr. Derick Roberson, Athletic Director, and Coach Wayne Ford, Women’s Basketball Coach, for their support. The family deeply appreciates Ms. Tameka Butts for her unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in organizing the ceremony, coordinating the Blevins' induction, and for her patience throughout the entire process.

The Gary and Barbara Blevins Scholarship Fund was established to honor Barb’s and Gary’s memory and each year, to award the Senior Woman’s Basketball player who best epitomizes Gary’s credo of:
“When you walk onto the court (or field), you are not always going to be the strongest, the fastest, or the smartest player, but the one thing that you can control is how hard you work. So don’t let anyone out-work you.”
Normally, the Award is made to one player, but Coach Neiman Ford, Duncanville High School’s Head Girls Basketball Coach, felt that this year two players were equally deserving. The Gary and Barbara Blevins Scholarship Fund is proud to announce that Chloe Mann and Mariah Clayton received this year’s Blevins "Hustle Award". Coach Ford presented the awards to the two players with the entire team in attendance (see picture to the left).
Both players epitomized the meaning of the
Award andpositively represented the
Duncanville HS Pantherette basketball
program with their work ethic both on the
court and in the classroom. Both
student-athletes have 3.0 GPA’s or above.
In addition, Ms. Clayton was named to the
Texas High School Coaches Association Academic
All-State Team.
Ms. Mann will be playing basketball at the University
of Cincinnati. Ms. Clayton will be attending and playing
for the Old Dominion Monarchs.
