Our Mission

Empowering Young Women Through Education and Sports

Our belief is that every young woman deserves the opportunity to realize her full potential through education and sports. This scholarship is inspired by the dedication of Coach Gary Blevins, who spent years coaching girls' basketball in Oklahoma, and his wife, Barbara, who traveled many miles on old buses, celebrating and crying with the players.
 

Recognizing Grit and Determination

While the scholarship winners may not be the highest scorers or MVPs on the team, they are the ones who showed up every day with grit, determination, and the willingness to push themselves and their teammates to improve. They are the ones with bloody knees and bruised elbows, but with wide grins and hearts full of resolve and gratification.  Their effort is a testament to their commitment—not just to sports, but to life.

 

Supporting Higher Education

This scholarship recognizes their relentless effort and intends to support the player’s pursuit of higher education, whether or not it includes sports. We believe that the qualities demonstrated on the court—dedication, leadership, and resilience—will help young women succeed both in their academic careers and in life beyond sports.

 

Our Goal

The Gary and Barbara Blevins Scholarship Fund aims to alleviate a small portion of their financial burden for those who will inspire others with their work ethic, passion, and commitment. Together, we can empower these young women to achieve their dreams and create a lasting impact on the people around them.
